What medium do you use ?

Color pencile or Pastel on paper or wood board. The wood board has marble dust painted onto the surface so it can hold many layers of pastel. I use mostly amstelpastelbord and canson mi ti paper.

How can i see the art work in person ?

You can come to one of my events which are listed on the bottom right side of the web site, or look on the Exhibitions page. If you cant wait for the next event I can give you a showing in my home studio, which you can also see my artist process. just send me a email on the contact page.

Where do you get your Ideas, is it from a photo?

The ideas are from my Imagination. I use photo refrence to make sure the butterfly is accurate ,like how the butter fly lands or looks. The design, color/lighting, and layout are most often made up or inspired from photos.

Why are you doing butterflies ?

The butterflies are part of The Dream carrier series. The dream carriers series are based on aborginal belieif that their most sacred creature is a butterfly. many Aboriginals believe that after death, the butterfly carries their soul to their after life of dreams. Aboringal believe each marking on the butterflies repesents a soul being carried to dream world.

Who is Kawa ?

thats me, its my last name. It is polish and its soposed to me pronounced "kava", but we just use kawa pronunciation. in polish Kawa means coffee.

How long dose it take to do your art?

Well their is no clear answerr to this but if I were to genralize, it would be roughly : 9x12 inch 8-30 hours 16x20 inch 15-50 hours 24x36 inch 50+ the more complex ( full back ground, full color, ect..) the picture the longer the times are.
